Candidate Pack

Candidates, for the greater part of their day, will follow their craft of choice. Either staying with a craft they were studying prior to their being searched, or choosing a craft on their arrival at the Weyr. Candidates will keep their craft rank during their candidacy, and can work towards Journeyman status, in fact this is positively encouraged by the Weyrleaders.

Chores

Your candidate will be assigned to a chore group and every day there will be various chores around the Weyr for them to accomplish. This is the candidates contribution to the running and upkeep of the Weyr which houses and feeds them. Avoidance of chores is a punishable offence. This, or any other punishable offence, will be dealt with by the Candidate Master.  Punishments may include loss of free time, various unsavoury duties which will be supervised, reduction or removal of mess/Dining Hall privileges. All these punishments will be at the discretion of the Candidate Master.

  • Kitchen Duties

If the Headwoman requires extra help in the kitchens, candidates will be called on. Duties may include baking, general food preparation, pan or floor scrubbing, or helping with the Laundry. This duty may also include cleaning the Dining Hall if our Headwoman chooses.

  • Weyr Chores

These chores are set by the Weyrleaders and Candidate Masters and will include such joys as cleaning out the Herdbeast enclosure and cleaning the butchering yard. Also in this section will be cleaning of the Barracks and breaking firestone.

  • Infirmary Chores

Candidates will follow any instructions given by the Weyrhealer or her Asssistants. Duties may include reading to patients, doing the infirmary laundry or washing patients, if the candidate is suitably qualified.
