Physical Description:	Athdar is average height, standing 5' 10" tall. He has dark hair, which he keeps short and neat. His blue eyes watch you from a tanned, average face. This boy is not what you could call handsome in the traditional sense of the word, his nose is a little crooked from the time it was broken during a childhood fight. His mouth is perhaps too full, his chin too round, but the overall effect is not unpleasant.
Personality:	Athdar is generally a pleasant, polite young man. He prefers to avoid arguments, and will concede his point rather than get into a fight, even if he knows he is right. This could make him easy meat for the bullies, but they know that, if he is pushed too far, he is more than capable of giving as good as he gets. His temper, although slow to burn, is hot, although not usually violent. Athdar is a hard worker, liking the satisfaction which comes from doing a job well. Whatever task is handed to hm, he will always carry it out to the best of his abilities, and is not afraid to ask for help if he feels he can't manage.
History:	Athdar's family moved south when he was 6 turns old. They decided to move for the climate and for more land, as the North was becoming overcrowded. they settled near Brondir Weyr, which was, at that time, a little over a turn old. Darian, his father, is a farmer, no more, no less. He was apprenticed into the Beastcraft as a boy, but he wanted more variety than that gave him, so he chose to claim his own land and 'grow things'. He has a love of the land, of the plants and animals which he tends, which has rubbed off on Athdar. His mother, Sarathene, is quite happy with the simple life she enjoys with her husband and their family, even though, at times, they have struggled. Things are easier now in the South, life is relatively good for them. Athdar has 2 brothers, both older than he, and one sister, who is the baby of the family at 15 turns of age. His elder brother, Dathen, is handfasted, with a family and a small patch of land of his own, his next brother, Rathian, is hoping to be searched, he has a lifelong fascination with the majestic dragons of Pern. Sarene, his sister, is a lively girl, looking for no more from life than to marry her sweetheart and settle down. Athdar was searched and brought, with his family's blessing, to Brondir to take his chances. All his family are proud to have him at the Weyr, although Rathian is a little jealous. Maybe it will be his turn one day soon.
