Physical Description: |
L'kai has weathered coffee-brown skin
and short cropped silver grey hair. He's a little over 6 feet tall and
still as fit as he'd been as a weyrling. In his younger years he was a
very attractive young man, and he has aged decently well. He's not the
heartthrob he used to be, but he does pull off the 'distinguished older
gentleman' rather well. |

Personality: |
L'kai is a firm believer in hierarchy,
especially in a Weyr. The strongest bronze pair should be Weyrleader and
down the cycle. He's ambitious and a good, if dictatorial leader. He has a
prejudice against female brown and blue riders and male greenriders,
thinking such pairing are evidence of a flawed dragon or rider. He's also
become very cynical and disparaging of the younger generations, and has
absolutely no respect for weyrlings or candidates (as a group, he can like
some as individuals). Oddly enough though, he loves children, both his and
others, and is always willing to tell a story or listen to some young
kid's latest adventure. |

History: |
L'kai (born: Larkai) was the middle
child of a farming family that made a decent sideling in the spinning and
weaving of their sheep. He would have been perfectly happy following in
the family business, but who can refuse when the Search dragons come?
Okay, sure, some can, but not Larkai. He was fascinated by the dragons, so
even though he didn't Impress at the first hatching, he stayed on to try
his luck again. And again. And again. Between Hatchings he made himself
useful to the Weyr spinners and knitters helping keep the rest of the Weyr
in clothing. He'd almost given up hope when Torith stumbled out of his
shell and almost literally landed at his lap. L'kai made it through weyrling training with little incident. Oh sure he got in trouble a time or two (or five or ten) but nothing particularly outstanding. He was tapped for leadership training, and both he and Torith excelled. Torith has flown many greens over the
course of his life and L'kai has had relationships with several women in
the past years. Despite his spreading of his seed, he does try to keep
track of the children he knows are his. His oldest, Laili works as a
fosterer and is expecting her first child (and L'kai's first grandchild)
soon. He has one other daughter who is a dragonhealer and a son who's
currently standing as a Candidate. L'kai follows the progress of his
children as much as possible. |

sort of mottled coloration that makes him look like a dragon-shaped lump
of mud. |

Personality: |
Not the brightest dragon in the Weyr,
Torith is content with his lot. He is content following L'kai's lead, a
fact that annoys L'kai to no end. The only thing that can really rile
Torith up is a greenflight |
