The Weyrling Barracks are arranged much like the Candidate Barracks, although there are a few large differences.

From the start, each Weyrling is put into their own cot-section with their dragonet. Each cot-section has a cot for the Weyrling to sleep in, a small press for the Weyrling’s things, and a couch for the dragon that is large enough to accomidate any size up to the eighth month of training. The Barracks are separated by gender for privacy purposes, as the cots are single but still open to the hall.

There are large areas for indoor feeding, bathing and oiling, as well as four human bathing rooms, four small study rooms, and four lecture halls that also connect to the outside Training Ground.

The Barracks has two entrances, one side entrance that opens on a large corridor that leads to the meeting area outside the Weyrling exit of the Hatching Grounds. The other is the main door, leading to the Training Ground and the weyr beyond.

The Weyrlingmaster and Assistants all have offices attached to the Barracks, and all the Weyrling personnel’s weyrs are surrounding the barracks. Also surrounding the barracks, both above and around are the weyrs for the older weyrlings.

Outside the Barracks main doors are the Training Grounds, a large open space for drills and flying practice, as well as several fenced in areas for different types of drills, exercises, and outdoor lectures. There is a fenced off outdoor feeding and bathing area for the young dragons here as well.
